FIRST MEETING OF THE
FREE COMPUTER CLUB FOR SENIORS

Residents and Friends gathered for the First Meeting on
Victoria Day May 23rd 2005
Residents of the ZENITH and the ELEGANCE gathered
on VICTORIA DAY in full force for the first meeting of their newly formed
Computer Club. The Zenith-Elegance Social Committee hosted the evening.
Everyone was seated by 7pm when Jan Gray, the
incoming president of the condo association, welcomed Ernest & Pamela Tabak.
Jan then introduced Pamela to the group explaining that she is well equipped to
help with all manner of computer problems and for the next five months she will
be giving free group computer lessons to the ZENITH-ELEGANCE COMPUTER CLUB.
Pamela began her session with a PowerPoint
presentation showing examples of the various programs that may interest the
group. Pamela explained that this club was formed to benefit the residents and
they will be the ones to choose the programs.
Pamela discussed Internet Security, Computer
Maintenance, E-Mail, Spyware, Antivirus programs, Networking, Microsoft
Word, Microsoft Excel, Windows XP, Photo Editing and Animation. She explained
that although the meetings will be dedicated to Novice users, Intermediate and
Advanced questions will also be addressed.
After the first hour, there was an intermission
for coffee and cake supplied by the Social Committee.
The second hour was dedicated to member's
questions which Pamela answered with the aid of her laptop and projector.
The evening ended with a thank you speech by Mort
Arbuck, president of the condo association. Mort told the story of how he met
the Tabaks and the events that prompted the Computer Club to be formed. In
closing he thanked Pamela for her excellent presentation and Ernest for his
continuing support.
