Members gathered for the last meeting of the 2006 season

Eager to learn how to clean up their computers for 2007 residents gathered in the party room of the Zenith-Elegance condo building for the final computer club meeting of the season.

Pamela explained how to place program files and document folders and pictures in easy to locate places on a computer and how to find solutions for problems that might occur.

Topics covered were Configuring a New Email Account in Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook, Accessing your Office Email on your Home Computer, Spyware and Internet Security, Easy Ways to Organize your Files and Folders, Inserting and Positioning Pictures into Documents and Emails, Using the New Novice Tutorials and Games on Pamela's website, Information on "Hands-On" classes for Novices at the BJCC. Members questions were also addressed.

The evening ended with a "thank you to Pamela" speech by Herb Appelby and the draw for the FREE Raffle. Betty Dinetz won a 128MB Flash Drive which will be invaluable to her when she travels south for the winter.

Learning to Buy and Sell on eBay

There was a good turnout for the July meeting where Pamela demonstrated how to Buy and Sell on eBay's online auction. With the aid of the PowerPoint presentation that she made she explained how to write a powerful description, a compelling title, design an attractive webpage and take and upload digital pictures to an eBay site.

Pamela emphasized the importance of describing the item accurately and showing any defects that might be present with close up photos. She also took a great deal of time to explain how to deal with problems and how to stay on good terms with your buyer.

BACKUP YOUR DATA BEFORE THE CRASH

ZECC Members Looking pleased about Backing Up Their Data

Pamela explained the importance of Backing Up Data on an external medium such as an External Hard Drive, Flash Drive, CD, DVD or Floppy disk before the members experienced a crash. The process of transferring data was explain and demonstrated and the members participated by asking relevant questions.

Pamela brought along samples of the external dives that can be used to backup data and showed how easy it was to copy the whole hard drive or just files and folders as required. She explained that Windows XP has a program that will burn data to a CD or software can be purchased that will perform entire hard drive backups as well as selected files and folders.

ZECC Members at the first meeting of the season

The new season for the Zenith-Elegance Computer Club happened to fall on Victoria Day just as it did in 2005. This didn't deter members from attending the first class of the season to learn some useful "Tips and Tricks" while operating their computer.

The members in attendance were Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Computer users so the questions were varied and interesting. Pamela demonstrated the answers with the aid of her laptop and a digital projector which was clearly visible on a large screen.

Those in attendance learned many new features which make their computing experience easier and are included in the Windows XP operating system.

Pamela thanks Edye Arbuck, Mindy Goldstein and the Social Committee for the refreshments that they supplied for the Computer Workshops throughout the summer.

The final Computer Class of the 2005 season was held on September 20th in the Zenith-Elegance Party Room. Pamela emphasized the importance of backing up data regularly and answered member's questions on various aspects of computing including hardware and software.

Pamela discussed COMPUTER MAINTENANCE and how to keep your computer in good working order.

Pamela reminded members that they can contact her by e-mail 24/7 - 365 days a year with their computer related problems. In most cases Pamela will answer within 24 hours.

INTERNET SECURITY & MEMBERS REQUESTS

Residents of the Zenith-Elegance Computer Club eager to start the meeting.

Residents and friends gathered for the fourth meeting of the newly formed computer club in Toronto Canada. Pamela Tabak hosted the evening reminding members the importance of Computer Maintenance, obtaining Windows Updates and making sure their AntiSpyware and Antivirus programs were up to date and working. She also discussed the new much publicized Worm that was threatening our computers.

The program continued with topics that had been requested by the members, the Basics of Picture Taking, Digital Cameras, Sending and Receiving Pictures by E-Mail, Storing Pictures on the Computer and Making a Photo Album in Microsoft Word. Pamela demonstrated these procedures in step-by-step form with the aid of her laptop and a digital projector.

After the intermission, where refreshments were kindly supplied by the Social Committee, Pamela answered member’s questions on many varied aspects of computing including printers and printing problems, operating system problems, procedures in Microsoft Word and Excel.

The evening ended with a FREE raffle. The prize of the hand signed book “Mr Excel” was generously donated by Bill Jellen who has a wonderful website for EXCEL users. http://www.mrexcel.com/ Bill previously donated this book to the BRCS for their meetings. He now has a new book coming out in September 2005 but if you visit his website you can obtain a FREE preview.

The winner this month was Betty Dinetz who uses EXCEL regularly and was thrilled with her prize.

New Toronto Computer Club Growing Fast

RResidents of the Zenith-Elegance Computer Club
gather for the season’s third meeting.

Residents and friends gathered for the third meeting of the newly found computer club in Toronto Canada. Over 80 members are now signed up. Pamela Tabak hosted the evening showing members Windows XP Tips & Tricks and how to troubleshoot their computers making it virtually unnecessary to call a technician when problems arise.

After the intermission where refreshments were kindly supplied by the Social Committee, Pamela answered member’s questions and demonstrated the answers with the aid of her laptop and projector.

The evening ended with a FREE raffle. Residents & Friends Gathered to Improve their Computer Skills

The second meeting of the Zenith-Elegance Computer Club met on June 28^th for a FREE computer class in the party room of The Elegance.

There were over 60 in attendance when Pamela Tabak demonstrated many ways to send and receive e-mails and how to set up service with the local ISP’s (Internet Service Providers), Sympatico and Rogers. She covered troubleshooting the services and ways to avoid problems.

Receiving and saving pictures that were sent by e-mail and shopping online were also a popular topic of the evening.

After the coffee and cake intermission, supplied by the Social Committee, Pamela answered members’ questions and demonstrated the answers with the aid of her laptop and projector, which gave a large, easy to read explanation of the their problems.

Pamela Tabak hosts the monthly meetings of The Zenith-Elegance Computer Club in Toronto Canada and welcomes all attendees who wish to improve their computer skills.

FIRST MEETING OF THE FREE COMPUTER CLUB FOR SENIORS

Residents and Friends gathered for the First Meeting
on Victoria Day May 23rd 2005

Residents of the ZENITH and the ELEGANCE gathered on VICTORIA DAY in full force for the first meeting of their newly formed Computer Club.
The Zenith-Elegance Social Committee hosted the evening.

Everyone was seated by 7pm when Jan Gray, the incoming president of the condo association, welcomed Ernest & Pamela Tabak. Jan then introduced Pamela to the group explaining that she is well equipped to help with all manner of computer problems and for the next five months she will be giving free group computer lessons to the ZENITH-ELEGANCE COMPUTER CLUB.

Pamela began her session with a PowerPoint presentation showing examples of the various programs that may interest the group. Pamela explained that this club was formed to benefit the residents and they will be the ones to choose the programs.

Pamela discussed Internet Security, Computer Maintenance, E-Mail, Spyware, Antivirus programs, Networking, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Windows XP, Photo Editing and Animation. She explained that although the meetings will be dedicated to Novice users, Intermediate and Advanced questions will also be addressed.

After the first hour, there was an intermission for coffee and cake supplied by the Social Committee.

The second hour was dedicated to member's questions which Pamela answered with the aid of her laptop and projector.

The evening ended with a thank you speech by Mort Arbuck, president of the condo association. Mort told the story of how he met the Tabaks and the events that prompted the Computer Club to be formed. In closing he thanked Pamela for her excellent presentation and Ernest for his continuing support.
